Chris Kennedy, Branch Manager & Aquaculture Risk Manager (Australia)
Chris joined Sunderland Marine in 1990, initially as a surveyor working from the Inverness office. He had previously worked in the Scottish and New Zealand salmon farming industries, spent time in India on a trout farming project and in Greece working with bass and bream farms. As well as assuming the overall responsibility for the branch, Chris is responsible for the Australian and New Zealand aquaculture underwriting and risk management. He has an Honours Degree in Zoology (majoring in Parasitology), from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and a Master’s Degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries Management from the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling and is an ANZIIF Senior Associate CIP.

Chris Barrett, Branch Manager & Hull Underwriter (New Zealand)
Originally from Whitby, UK. Chris came to the Company via the Merchant Navy where he attained his 2nd Mates ticket. This was followed with a B.Sc in Nautical Studies before he joined Sunderland Marine in 1989. Chris worked in Claims for 11 years, before transferring to underwriting. In 2006 Chris and his family moved to Nelson as permanent residents. In 2012 Chris was made Branch Manager. Chris also represents Sunderland on the ICNZ Marine Committee. Chris, in his spare time, can often be found somewhere along the Nelson waterfront with his fishing rod, chasing snapper into the small hours of the night.
