Sunderland Marine issued its first aquaculture policy in 1986 making it possibly the longest serving insurer to the aquaculture industry. Since those early days, Sunderland Marine has established itself as a global aquaculture insurer, expanding geographically and covering a diverse range of production systems and species.
The fish farms in the 12 countries which the Company now operates in, benefit from a free and complimentary risk management service. Aquaculture Risk Management was instigated with the issue of the first Policy to provide technical assistance and loss prevention advice to policyholders in what can be a volatile and relatively high-risk industry. Our Surveyors based in Newcastle, Dublin, Chile, Melbourne and Vancouver visit all insured sites on a regular basis, over the years this wealth of information has built a unique and valuable database.
Our dedicated and experienced team of underwriters, claims personnel, risk managers and on occasion, other aquaculture specialists, work with our policyholders and their representatives to create innovative and bespoke packages to ensure the best protection possible for specific requirements. Our Mortality Policy covers stock on an "all risks" basis plus additional cover for equipment and support craft can be purchased if required, to complete the insurance package.
